02
What is a Medical Tattoo?

Paramedical tattooing supports both physical and emotional healing for clients with a range of medical and cosmetic concerns. Treatments can help address conditions such as alopecia related hair loss, scarring from surgeries, infections, and injuries, and the camouflage of radiation marker tattoos for those who have undergone cancer treatment. Services also include 3D areola and nipple tattoos for clients with mastectomy or top surgery scarring, as well as scalp and hairline micropigmentation.

At Belle Âme Skin and Beauty, our paramedical tattoo services include Camouflage Tattoos, Inkless Camouflage, Scalp and Hairline Micropigmentation, and 3D Areola and Nipple Tattoos.

What is the difference between scar camouflage and inkless camouflage?

Scar camouflage uses skin-tone pigment tattooed into the scar tissue to match your surrounding skin colour, effectively blending the scar visually. It works well for scars that have healed and stabilised, including surgical scars, stretch marks with colour contrast, and burn scars.

Inkless camouflage uses a specialised serum instead of pigment. The serum is tattooed into the skin to stimulate melanin production in areas of hypopigmentation, encouraging your skin to generate its own colour. It is ideal for white or depigmented scars, stretch marks, and conditions like vitiligo where the skin has lost its natural pigment.

During a consultation we will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate approach, or a combination of both.

Can all skin tones be treated?

Yes. Belle Âme works with all skin tones. Pigment matching and treatment approach are tailored individually to each client. A consultation or patch test may be recommended before treatment to assess how your skin responds.

How long does inkless camouflage last?

Results vary depending on the individual and how well the skin responds to treatment. In many cases the results are long lasting because the treatment works by stimulating your skin's own melanin rather than depositing artificial pigment. Multiple sessions are often needed to achieve the best outcome, and results continue to develop over several weeks after each session.

Will insurance cover my Medical Tattoo?

Insurance coverage for paramedical tattoos varies by provider and plan. Clients are responsible for researching their own benefits to determine eligibility.

Will the procedure be painful?

Pain levels vary depending on individual tolerance and the treatment area. A topical numbing agent is applied at every appointment, and we aim to keep discomfort at a 4 or below on the pain scale.

Most clients report feeling little to no pain during their session when asked about their comfort level.

Will my tattoo change colour with time?

No. The inks used at Belle Âme Skin and Beauty Lounge are specially formulated to remain stable and resist unwanted colour changes over time.

Permanent makeup pigments, on the other hand, naturally fade to a lighter version of the original shade and will eventually require touch ups to maintain the desired result.

Can I get tattooed during pregnancy?

Cosmetic and paramedical tattooing is not recommended during pregnancy. However, once you have given birth and completed breastfeeding, the procedure can be done safely.

How many sessions to camouflage a scar?

Most scars can be camouflaged in one to four sessions. The exact number depends on the size, depth, colour, and age of the scar, as well as how your skin heals and retains pigment or serum.

A follow up session is often recommended to perfect the blend and ensure the best long term result.

03
What is a Cosmetic Tattoo / Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup, also called cosmetic tattooing, enhances your natural features by mimicking the look of traditional cosmetics. These treatments help restore balance, symmetry, and overall tone to the face.

At Belle Âme, our cosmetic tattoo services include Microblading and advanced brow techniques, Permanent Eyeliner, Lip Blush Tattoos, and Freckle or Beauty Mark Tattoos.

What is the difference between microblading and nano brows?

Microblading uses a manual hand tool with a blade to create fine hair stroke impressions in the skin. It works best on normal to dry skin and produces a very natural, hair-like result.

Nano brows use a digital machine with a single ultra-fine needle to draw hair strokes into the skin. The needle penetrates more precisely and at a consistent depth, making nano brows better suited to oily skin, larger pores, or clients who want crisper, longer-lasting strokes.

Both techniques produce beautiful, natural-looking brows. During your consultation we will recommend the technique that suits your skin type and desired result.

Can I get permanent makeup over existing tattoo work?

It depends on the existing work. In many cases we can work over faded permanent makeup to refresh or reshape it. However, heavily saturated, dark, or misshapen previous work may not be suitable for direct coverage. Please send us a photo before booking so we can advise you properly.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

Avoid alcohol, blood thinners, and caffeine for 24 hours before your appointment as these increase bleeding and can affect pigment retention. Do not use retinoids, exfoliating acids, or active skincare on the treatment area for at least one week prior. Avoid sun exposure and tanning in the treatment area for two weeks before. Come with clean skin, free of makeup on the treatment area.

For lip blush appointments specifically, if you are prone to cold sores, we recommend taking an antiviral medication such as Valtrex before your session. Please consult your doctor.

Can I wear makeup to my appointment?

You can wear makeup to your appointment, but please arrive with the treatment area clean. For brow appointments, you are welcome to draw on your brows beforehand to show us the shape you like. We will assess and adjust together at the start of your session.

How do I care for my permanent makeup after the procedure?

Your technician will provide you with full aftercare instructions at your appointment. In general, keep the area clean and dry for the first 7 to 10 days. Avoid picking, peeling, or touching the treated area. Do not apply makeup, skincare actives, or sunscreen directly on the tattooed area while it is healing. Avoid saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating during the healing period. Apply any aftercare product provided as directed.

The colour will appear darker immediately after the procedure and will soften and lighten significantly during healing. The true result is visible after four to six weeks.

How long does permanent makeup last?

The results of most treatments typically last between one and three years, with longevity influenced by skin type, lifestyle, and how well aftercare is followed.

Does the procedure hurt?

A numbing cream is applied to ensure your comfort, and most clients experience only light pressure or a scratching sensation instead of pain.

What is the healing time?

The first stage of healing usually lasts around one week, while the full colour emerges over four to six weeks as the skin settles and the pigment matures.

Will my permanent makeup look natural?

Yes. The techniques and pigments are selected to enhance your features, producing a soft, natural look that complements your face.

Do I need a touch-up?

A follow-up session is typically scheduled four to eight weeks after the initial appointment to fine-tune the colour and shape.

Who is a good candidate for permanent makeup?

Most people can have this treatment, but a consultation is necessary to assess your skin type, medical history, and goals to ensure safe and optimal results.

04
What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical paramedical treatment that uses specialised pigment and a fine needle to replicate the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp. It creates the illusion of a close-shaved head, a denser hairline, or fuller coverage over thinning areas. SMP is used to address hair loss from alopecia, male and female pattern baldness, thinning hair, and scalp scarring from surgery or injury.

Does SMP look natural up close?

Yes, when performed by a skilled technician. The pigment dots are placed at the correct depth and density to mimic real follicles, and the colour is carefully matched to your natural hair tone and skin undertone. The result is a realistic, seamless appearance even at close range.

Is SMP suitable for women?

Absolutely. SMP is highly effective for women experiencing thinning hair, a widening part, or hair loss along the hairline. Rather than creating a shaved look, SMP for women typically adds the appearance of density between existing hairs, making the scalp less visible and the hair appear fuller overall.

How many sessions does SMP require?

Most clients require two to three sessions spaced two to four weeks apart. The first session lays the foundation, subsequent sessions build density and refine the hairline. The number of sessions depends on the extent of hair loss and the desired coverage.

How long does SMP last?

SMP typically lasts three to five years before a colour refresh may be desired. Longevity is affected by sun exposure, skin type, and aftercare. Avoiding prolonged sun exposure on the scalp and using SPF will help maintain the results longer.

Is SMP painful?

Most clients describe SMP as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. The scalp varies in sensitivity across different areas. A topical numbing agent is applied before each session to keep you comfortable throughout.

05
What is a Lash Lift?

A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that curls and lifts your natural lashes, creating a fuller, more defined look without extensions. It is ideal for enhancing your lashes and giving your eyes a brighter, youthful appearance.

How Long Does a Lash Lift Last?

A lash lift usually lasts 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth and adherence to aftercare. To maintain results, avoid rubbing your eyes and exposing them to water during the first 24 hours.

Lash Tinting?

Lash tinting involves applying a semi-permanent dye to your lashes to deepen and enhance their colour, creating a fuller, more defined look that lasts for several weeks.

How Long Does Lash Tinting Last?

Lash tinting generally lasts 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your natural hair growth and how carefully you follow aftercare.

Can I Get a Lash Lift and Tint or Brow Lamination and Tint Together?

Yes, treatments can be combined. Many clients opt for a lash lift with a tint or a brow lamination with a tint in a single appointment for a full eye and brow refresh. Each service is customised to suit your needs.

How Should I Prepare for My Lash Lift or Lash Tinting Appointment?

Come with clean lashes, free of makeup and oils. If you wear contact lenses, it is best to remove them before your appointment for comfort. There is no need to trim or shape your brows beforehand, as our technicians will take care of that.

Is There Any Downtime After the Treatment?

There is no downtime after a lash lift, brow lamination, or tinting. However, for the best results, avoid getting your lashes and brows wet for 24 hours after your appointment.

How Should I Care for My Lashes After the Treatment?

To keep your results looking fresh, avoid water, steam, and mascara for the first 24 hours, and gently brush your lashes each day.

Can I Wear Makeup After a Lash Lift?

After the first 24 hours, you can use makeup normally. Just avoid mascara on lash lifts and steer clear of oil-based makeup removers on both lash lifts and brow laminations.

Will I Need a Touch-Up?

Yes. Depending on your hair growth and aftercare, touch-ups may be needed every 4 to 8 weeks. Regular maintenance helps keep your lashes and brows looking their best.

Can I Get a Lash Lift If I Have Sensitive Skin?

If you have sensitive skin, please speak with our specialists before booking. We use professional, gentle products, but it is important to confirm the treatments are right for your skin type.

Can I Get a Lash Lift or Tint If I am Pregnant?

Can I Get a Brow Lamination If I Have Sensitive Skin?

07
What is the difference between classic, hybrid, and volume lashes?

Classic lashes involve applying one extension to each natural lash. They add length and a subtle definition while looking natural and clean.

Volume lashes use a fan of multiple ultra-fine extensions applied to each natural lash. They create a fuller, more dramatic look with significantly more density.

Hybrid lashes combine classic and volume techniques in the same set, giving a textured, dimensional result that sits between the two styles.

What is the difference between regular lash extensions and LED lash extensions?

Traditional lash extensions use a cyanoacrylate adhesive that bonds through moisture and takes time to cure. LED lash extensions use a light-activated adhesive that cures instantly when exposed to a gentle LED light. The LED bond is generally stronger and longer lasting, and because the adhesive cures immediately there is less fume exposure, making it a more comfortable option for clients with sensitive eyes.

What are lash extensions?

Lash extensions are semi-permanent fibers applied individually to your natural lashes with a medical-grade adhesive. They add length, volume, and curl, creating a fuller, more dramatic look without mascara.

How long do lash extensions last?

Lash extensions usually last 2 to 3 weeks before a fill is needed. Their lifespan depends on your natural lash growth and aftercare, so regular maintenance is recommended to keep them looking their best.

Can I wear makeup with lash extensions?

Yes, you can wear makeup, but avoid oil-based products and mascara on your extensions, as they can weaken the adhesive. Use water-based or lash-safe products to maintain their longevity.

Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

When applied by a trained professional, lash extensions will not damage your natural lashes. Following proper aftercare, like avoiding excessive rubbing or pulling, helps keep your lashes healthy.

How should I prepare for my lash appointment?

Come with clean lashes, free of makeup, avoiding any oil-based products so the adhesive can bond properly. If you wear contact lenses, please remove them before your appointment.

08
What are LED lash extensions?

LED lashes are extensions attached using a light-activated adhesive that cures instantly under a gentle LED light, forming a stronger, longer-lasting bond than traditional lash glue.

Are LED lash extensions safe?

Yes. The LED light is low-level and safe for skin and eyes when used correctly, and the adhesive cures quickly to minimise fumes.

How long do LED lash extensions last?

LED lashes generally last longer than classic extensions because the bond is stronger, giving most clients improved retention between fills.

Do LED lashes feel different?

No. They feel just like traditional lash extensions; the only difference is the way the adhesive cures.

Are LED lashes good for sensitive eyes?

Often, yes. Since the adhesive cures instantly, there is less exposure to fumes, making the process more comfortable for sensitive clients.

Is the LED light similar to UV?

No. LED lashes use a safe visible light, not UV, and it is specifically designed for professional lash applications.

09
What areas of the face can be waxed?

At Belle Âme Skin and Beauty Lounge, we offer facial waxing for various areas, including the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, cheeks, and sideburns. Our estheticians will help determine the best treatment areas based on your needs.

How long will my skin stay smooth after a facial wax?

The results typically last 3 to 4 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. With regular waxing, many clients experience finer, sparser regrowth over time.

Is facial waxing painful?

While some discomfort is normal, our expert estheticians use gentle techniques to minimise pain and provide the most comfortable experience possible. For those concerned about sensitivity, numbing products can be used.

What should I do before my facial waxing appointment?

We recommend arriving with clean skin, free of makeup, oils, or lotions, to ensure the best results. Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds 24 hours before your appointment to reduce skin sensitivity.

How do I care for my skin after facial waxing?

After your wax, avoid hot showers, direct sun exposure, or intense exercise for at least 24 hours. Gently exfoliate your skin a few days later to prevent ingrown hairs, and always use sunscreen to protect your freshly waxed skin.

10
What is teeth whitening?

It is a non-dental aesthetic treatment that lifts surface stains and brightens the teeth using a professional whitening gel activated by an LED light.

How much brighter will my teeth get?

Most clients see a noticeable lift in one session, often two to eight shades depending on their enamel, lifestyle, and stain level.

Does it hurt or cause sensitivity?

Some clients feel mild, temporary sensitivity, but it usually fades within a few hours. A desensitizing product can be applied if needed.

How long does a session take?

A full appointment typically takes 60 to 90 minutes.

How long do teeth whitening results last?

Results can last three to six months or longer with proper care, such as reducing coffee, tea, red wine, and smoking.

Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes. The products are formulated for cosmetic use and are safe when applied by trained professionals.

11
What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries. This encourages collagen and elastin production for smoother, firmer skin.

What concerns can microneedling help with?

It improves fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, stretch marks, and overall skin tone.

Does microneedling hurt?

A numbing cream is applied before your treatment, so most clients feel only light pressure or mild prickling.

How long does a microneedling appointment take?

A full session usually takes 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the areas treated.

What is the downtime?

Your skin may feel warm and look flushed for 24 to 48 hours. Minor dryness or flaking can occur as the skin renews itself.

How many treatments do I need?

Most clients see best results with a series of 3 to 6 sessions spaced four weeks apart, depending on their goals.
